Discussion about DJ Salez - Equator / Celestial
Acebiolane
Sales Bansie returns to the ITWT after his colloboration with DJ Cor Fijneman a year earlier (ITWT 338-5) with two very different tracks on this interesting EP. Equator begins with an almost dirty-sounding synth, yet by the 2.10 the first signs of the delightful melody can be heard. This build-up continues for another minutes or so until the melody becomes an epic wall of sound, letting the listener realise they are in for a treat. At around 5.11, the full breakdown occurs and euphoria ensues. It is a well-constructed tune, somewhat exotic in its sound, and it reminds me of Symbols (ITWT 354-5) in the sense that it is pretty unrelenting allowing the listener to get caught up in its mood. Nobody considers this to be a classic, but it is certainly an underrated gem that all fans of the In Trance We Trust label should hear. On the flipside, is Celestial. This track is over a minute longer than Equator and begins with a distinctive pounding beat that guides the track to the 1.10 mark at which point ethereal flashes of noise grace each eighth beat as the build-up continues. Half way through the track the listener will notice that there is already a more minimal sound present, and at 4.40 there is a scholarly male vocal piece giving brief words of wisdom before the track escalates into its long-awaited breakdown at 6.26. Two nice euphoric tracks from Sales Bansie here, even if Celestial takes a little too long to get going. All in all, this is an above-average production that I would recommend to all fans of the genre.
