Wooden Purple Romeo

I'm coming at Blackfield from a different direction than the other reviewers as this is the first I'd heard of this particular project (being first and foremost a SW fan). I've not heard the other albums but listening to this one makes me want to investigate the others. There's some good stuff here amongst some generic sounding rock/pop crossovers. Some of it reminds me of Darren Hayes (from my wife's collection, not good) some of it reminds me of no one in particular (a good thing). Songs are lean and varied in tone, not a dark album at all, a bit soppy but if everything sounded like 'Unknown Pleasures' the world would be a boring place. Jupiter and Firefly are the standouts here.
